International Learning
International Learning is an integral part of our curriculum at Ivy Lane School. We are fully committed to ensuring our pupils learn about languages, traditions and cultures from around the world through as many different learning opportunities as possible. We have successfully maintained our International School Award status for many years, which means that through our curriculum we ensure all pupils have the opportunities to take part in learning projects with schools abroad enabling them to make comparisons between their local environment and environments around the world.
We also dedicate time to celebrate a wide range of International Days where languages and cultures become the focal point of our learning. It is our strong belief that our pupils should begin to view themselves as global citizens, who take an active role in their community, and work with others to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable.
All of our pupils are offered the opportunity to learn either French or Spanish. We ensure that the language learning is fun, interactive and delivered with the intention of developing an enjoyment for languages and cultures different to their own. French and Spanish are taught discreetly, but many of our themes lend themselves to including links with France and Spain and we try to encourage this as much as possible.
